When blogging first started many many years ago, they were often considered as being glorified online journals where individuals talking about their everyday lives and experiences. Making money from these wasn't really the objective.

As the blogosphere has evolved over the years so has the content. There are millions and millions of blogs worldwide available online on every imaginable topic and for various reasons also, such as sharing knowledge, experiences and talking about a subjects that people are passionate about.

WordPress is often the bloggers choice as there are hundreds of templates available with even the free options rivalling the look and feel of a professionally created site.

With the recent boom of mummy bloggers, travel bloggers etc influencing consumer choices, brands are keen to connect with bloggers  with a large reach via social media, therefore its a no brainer for bloggers not to monetise from their sites.

The past year saw a boom in platforms recognising the power of the blogger, such as the Blogger Programme allowing brands and bloggers to showcase who they are what they can offer via profile rich pages and Glambassador another platform dedicated to Fashion based bloggers.

Building up an audience/ fan-base for any blogger can take time, therefore combining your blogging efforts with some affiliate marketing -the process whereby you direct your readers through to products and services.
